Busines to business expo, BarnsleyWorks 2010, attracted hundrededs of local businessess to receive valuable support and advice.

More than fifty companies took exhibition stands at the Barnsley Metrodome to promote their products and services – including Finance Yorkshire.

BBC Apprentice finalist Ruth Badger and Freeserve co-founder Rob Wilmot, both attended and addressed the delegate audience on ensuring business success whatever the business climate.

BarnsleyWorks also attracted IT giant Microsoft, which signed up eligible companies to receive thousands of pounds worth of free IT support. 

Suzanne Tinkler, marketing manager for Finance Yorkshire, said: "BarnsleyWorks was a great opportunity to give business leaders from across South Yorkshire more information about Finance Yorkshire and the support we can provide them.

"Meeting face to face enables both sides to offer instant dialogue on the aims of the business and what Funds are available to help make those objectives become a reality,"

Headline sponsors of the business to business event were Barnsley Development Agency (BDA) and the Work and Skills Board.

Carol Cooper Smith, from the Barnsley Development Agency, said: "The event offered companies a great opportunity to receive free advice from some real experts in their field.

"The seminar programme was varied, with topics ranging from digital marketing to employment law, and all who attended have made very positive comments about their experience. 

"As the event is in its third year it has been important to evolve it and keep it fresh and relevant – judging by the response, we’ve achieved this, and we’re very pleased to have been a main sponsor."
