Finance Yorkshire has officially opened their new headquarters in Barnsley.

The venture capital and loan fund, which has £90million to support business growth across the Yorkshire and Humber region, has moved into the offices at the Capitol Business Park.

Finance Yorkshire directors, members of the Fund’s Partners Group and Business Link Yorkshire attended the office opening event.

Tony Parsons, deputy chairman of Finance Yorkshire, said: “We have received hundreds of applications for finance from businesses across the region and during the coming weeks we hope to announce our first investments.

“However, we need the continued support of business organisations and advisers to identify potential clients and sign-post them in our direction. These partnerships proved successful with the previous two funds – South Yorkshire Investment Fund and Partnership Investment Finance - and we wish for this to remain.”

During recent weeks Finance Yorkshire has been finalising the details of the Fund and speaking to financial intermediaries and businesses about the investment packages they can provide to help businesses start and grow.

The Fund will be looking to provide seedcorn, loan and equity linked investments, ranging from £15,000 to £2m to help small and medium businesses meet the gaps in funding they need for growth and development.

Finance Yorkshire’s Partners Group is a group of 25 key regional people who represent the main stakeholders, they act as a guide to the operation and development of the Fund and also act as ambassadors for the Fund in the market.

The project is supported financially by the European Union. It has attracted £30million investment from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) as part of Europe’s support for the region’s economic development through the Yorkshire and Humber ERDF Programme.
