Finance Yorkshire was among the sponsors of this year’s national finals of the Forward Ladies Women in Business Awards (WIBA).

The Fund sponsored the Rising Star of the Year category in which the winner was Amy Archer, Deputy Managing Director of Swift Leisure, Cottingham.

Finance Yorkshire Chief Executive Alex McWhirter presented Amy with her award at the finals held at the Queens Hotel, Leeds.

Swift Leisure is the UK’s leading manufacturer of caravans, motor homes and holiday homes. The company’s turnover is £200 and it employs 900 people across the Yorkshire and Humber region. Amy is the only woman on its board of directors.

Alex said: “Finance Yorkshire has long been a supporter of the Women in Business Awards which provide an opportunity to acknowledge the success of entrepreneurial female business leaders from across the UK. Our congratulations go to Amy who is at the helm of one of the region’s most successful businesses.”

Amy said: “I am delighted to have won the ‘Rising Star of the Year’ at these highly respected awards. It is a great accolade and I am honoured to be part of the WIBA which recognises the enormous contribution women are making in business. This award is proof that women who aspire to succeed in business can achieve their goals through commitment and hard work and I hope it inspires other women to unlock their potential.”

The Women in Business Awards, now in their sixth year, were hosted by ITV newsreader Charlene White.

Finance Yorkshire provides seedcorn, loan and equity linked investments, ranging from £15,000 to £2m to help a range of small and medium sized businesses to meet their funding requirements for growth and development.
