Fund backing significant industry landmark events

Finance Yorkshire are proud to sponsor the Global Manufacturing Festival

Finance Yorkshire has joined leaders from world industry in backing the Global Manufacturing Festival (GMF).

The venture capital and loan fund is one of the key event sponsors for the festival, which takes place in the Sheffield City Region between April 17-19 and aims to connect SMEs in the UK’s materials based engineering supply chains with major international consumers.

Key figures from Boeing, Rolls-Royce, Siemens and Tata Steel recently gathered with Finance Yorkshire in London at the festival’s Westminster launch.

Sir Roger Bone, President of Boeing UK, Dr. Hamid Mughal, Executive vice-president of Manufacturing, Engineering and Technology at Rolls-Royce, Andrew Peters, Director of Siemens UK and Mark Broxholme, Managing Director of Speciality Steels at Tata Steel were speaking at Church House to discuss developing strategies for growth in the region’s manufacturing industry.

Over three days the festival offers a trade show at the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC), conference programme, factory visits and the Get Up To Speed event, which encourages young people to discover the world of manufacturing and engineering.

Meanwhile, Finance Yorkshire has joined 17 other businesses to become a member of the 100 Club, a unique partnership of companies which are sponsoring the centenary celebrations of the discovery of stainless steel in the Sheffield City Region.

A series of events are taking place throughout 2013 to mark the achievement from Harry Brearley which transformed the area into an industry leader around the world.

Seedcorn, loan and equity linked investments, ranging from £15,000 to £2m, are available from Finance Yorkshire to help a range of small and medium sized businesses meet their funding requirements for growth and development.

Finance Yorkshire is supported financially by the European Union. It has attracted £30million investment from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) as part of Europe’s support for the region’s economic development through the Yorkshire and Humber ERDF Programme, £15million from Yorkshire Forward’s Single Programme, and £45million match funding from the European Investment Bank.
